3x5 cards
An index card is heavy paper stock cut to a standard size. Index cards are often used for recording individual items of information that can then be easily rearranged and filed. The most common size in the United States and Russia is 3 by 5 inches (76 by 127 mm), hence the common name 3-by-5 card. While computers have largely supplanted index cards and especially edge-notched cards, index cards are still a popular way of organizing ideas, quotes, vocabulary words, and references while researching and writing books, articles, and term papers, and for managing any kind of free-form information.
Addition
A creative technique whereby idea is expanded by adding other ideas or concepts to it. To generate ideas for use in creative addition as the question, “What else could be added to this to enhance it’s meaning. For example putting the adjective “red” with the noun “ball” uses addition to create the more precise term “red ball.”
Capture
To create a record of. Photos, video, web addresses, words and phrases can all be captured and organized.
Creativity

Creativity is a mental and social process involving the generation of new ideas or concepts, or new associations between existing ideas or concepts.

Deleting
Similar to the concept of subtraction, you can often make any work of creation more effective by deleting unnecessary components. Your deletions may take the form of words, sentences, graphics or video or any other expendable element.
Divison
Division is another term for grouping or clumping. When you divide 9 ideas into 3 catagories with 3 items in each, you've practiced division.
Multiplication
Place your ideas in a multi-column matrix. Try creating multiple variations of each instance. For example, if you ideas relate easily to summer, how can youo make small changes that will also allow them to relate to fall, spring and winter?
Notebooks
Not the portable computer, but the paper kind. There are hundreds of sizes and types of the venerable notebook including the spiral bound, the pocket notebook and the leather bound journal.
Paper-Based Methods
These include standard copy paper, cards, Post-It Notes and many more. Your options in using paper are only limited by your imagination.
Quality

The common element of the business definition of quality is that a product or service meets the customer's expectations. If you're expecting skim milk and you're given heavy cream, the product did not meet your expecations, it did not pass the business definition of quality.

Subtraction
A creative technique whereby idea is made clearer by subtracting unnecessary words or detail. By removing ten words from this sentence: “He manipulated the light switch into an upward position to turn on the light,” it becomes “He turn on the light,” grammatically incorrect, but easily fixed by then adding “ed” to “turn.”
